Hi there, thanks for visiting my website
I've lived in Bristol for many years, having also lived in London, Portsmouth and Strasbourg. I completed the Bath Spa University Creative Writing MA with distinction in 2006 working on my first novel, Vegetable Loves. In 2010 I was selected to participate in the South West Mentoring Project run by Exeter University with Writer-in-Residence Clare George. An extract from the novel I was working on, Functional, was published by the University anthology. I have also followed several correspondence courses with the Open College of the Arts, a freelance journalism course with Bristol University, and many other short courses and workshops over the years.,
There's a vibrant and supportive writing community in Bristol. I have been a member of both Bristol Women Writers and Bristol Writers’ Group and enjoy the stimulation brought by reading others’ work. I have performed at several local literary events, appearing at both Bath and Bristol Literature Festivals, at the popular Word of Mouth nights at the Thunderbolt pub near Temple Meads, and at Writers Unchained events at the Southbank Centre in Southville. I have also performed as part of the Bristol Writers’ Group in a candlelit Redcliffe Caves. There's no electricity down there so I had to bring my own torch and wear 'stout shoes'.
Back at home I also enjoy the editing process. In 2006 I was a chief sub-editor of Spring, the anthology produced by my year’s MA students. After that I studied proofreading with the Publishing Training Centre and used what I had learned to help prepare the Unchained anthology for publication. I always enjoy giving feedback on others’ projects, and have been asked for my input to several published novels (see Testimonials under My Work above).
As Secretary of a local community band I am responsible for weekly newsletters, minutes and reports. I manage the website and update its content regularly. I also built this website.
I am looking forward to taking writing in a new direction soon, using my experience of participating in workshops and facilitating carers’ groups to run a creative writing group for adults with Asperger's Syndrome in Bristol.
For extended fiction I am currently represented by Will Francis, Director, Janklow and Nesbit (UK) Ltd.
